Exploring InnoTrans 2024: A Product Manager’s Perspective

Attending InnoTrans 2024 for the first time was an experience I’ll never forget. As the product manager for ETCS at Mipro, I’ve heard a lot about the scale and significance of the event, but nothing prepared me for the sheer size of the exhibition and the energy that surrounded it. It was both exciting and a little bit overwhelming!

A global stage for connection and collaboration

One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was the chance to meet so many people from all over the world—clients, partners and competitors who are just genuinely interested about railway technology. There’s something special about face-to-face interactions that can’t be replaced virtually. I especially appreciated the opportunity to exchange knowledge within the ETCS onboard and wayside sector.

During the exhibition I was frequently asked about our marshalling yard solutions, which really stood out as a key talking point. It’s clear that many in the industry are looking for more efficient and automated ways to manage these complex marshalling yard operations.

A Milestone Moment: Joining UNISIG

Recently Mipro joined the UNISIG organization, our application to UNISIG reflects our commitment to innovation and quality in railway signalling. I was lucky enough to get the chance to meet Klaus Mindel, the general manager of UNISIG. Our discussions focused on the future of ETCS and how we as a new partnership member can contribute to the organisation. Being part of UNISIG organization not only strengthens our position within the industry but is also a testament of our dedication to contributing to the future of global rail safety and interoperability.

Navigating the hectic days

I won’t sugarcoat it—InnoTrans was hectic! From early morning until late evening, it was non-stop meetings, presentations, and discussions. Talking to people from all over the industry gave me new insights into the latest updates in technology and how different organizations are tackling their own challenges.

Team effort and positive environment

Our team worked hard to make the event a success, which it truly was. It wasn’t without its challenges—large events like this always come with unexpected challenge. I was impressed by marketing staff quickly coordinating and effectively overcoming these challenges.

Overall, InnoTrans 2024 was an incredible event which game me an opportunity to connect, learn, and share how Mipro is impacting future of railway signalling. I left the event feeling inspired and excited for what’s to come, both for our company and the industry.
