Mipro’s EULYNX-based Object Controller System has been named the winner of the UNIFE SME Award 2026, recognising the innovation and interoperability of the solution developed for Finland’s Digirail project. The award was announced by UNIFE, the European Rail Supply Industry Association, during InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin on 23 September.
Mipro’s Object Controller System (OCS) is a key part of the new railway signalling architecture being implemented on the first commercial ERTMS/ETCS track section of the Digirail programme. Based on open EULYNX interfaces, the system connects the Centralised Safety System with trackside equipment such as points and signals and supports train detection through axle counting. The solution is designed to the highest railway safety level, SIL4, and incorporates cybersecurity measures based on IEC 62443, together with remote diagnostics and management capabilities.
For Mipro, the recognition highlights the importance of open, standardised interfaces in the development of future railway signalling. EULYNX enables equipment from different suppliers to work together through common interfaces, supporting greater interoperability and a more modular approach to railway infrastructure. The Digirail project is also providing a real-world environment for applying these principles in the modernisation of Finland’s railway network.
“We are proud to see our EULYNX-based Object Controller System recognised by UNIFE. The award reflects the expertise and commitment of our team and the value of open, interoperable solutions in the development of modern railway signalling,” says Jari Pylvänen, Business Unit Director of Rail at Mipro.
The UNIFE SME Committee brings together 45 member companies and focuses on supporting SMEs across the European rail supply industry. The 2026 award marks an important recognition for Mipro as a Finnish technology company contributing to the development of more open and interoperable railway systems in Europe.
